Renewable Energy Credits (RECs)
At Barrier, we help environmentally-conscious clients buy and sell renewable energy credits (RECs) which verify that a certain percentage of their power comes from clean sources like solar. With RECs, utilities can sell renewable energy to customers who want to buy it.
One REC is produced for every megawatt-hour (MWh) of renewable energy that is produced and sent to the grid. So if your system produces 5 MWh of electricity, you have five RECs to keep or sell, and you can confirm that 5 MWh of your electricity came from a renewable source.
