WE INTRODUCED THIS QUAINT HOTEL TO FIVE-STAR SERVICE
HOTEL IN CONCORD, CALIFORNIA
THE CHALLENGE
This hotel had undergone multiple remodels through its lifetime, each leaving its mark on the facility’s roof which had deteriorated into very poor condition. Adding insult to injury, the hotel’s hot water system piping was run on the roof, making reroofing all but impossible.
THE PROCESS
Barrier determined that polyurethane foam was the only system that could work with the sheer volume of piping, conduit, equipment and – most notably – penetrations: over 200 for the pipes alone, plus 20 for HVAC and countless others. Barrier’s technicians attacked the roof one 3,000 sq. ft. section at a time until completion, finally applying a silicone top coat to protect against any possible ponding issues.
THE RESULT
Giving this hotel roof a new lease on life is one of Barrier’s proudest achievements, and remains one of the most difficult roof projects in the company’s history.
“We knew we had a challenge on our hands with our roof, which is why we called Barrier in the first place. They took a systematic approach and gave us a roof that delivers in every way, just like the rest of our property.”
