WE HELPED THIS COLD STORAGE KEEP ENERGY COSTS FROM GOING THROUGH THE ROOF
COLD STORAGE & PACKING HOUSE IN MADERA, CALIFORNIA
THE CHALLENGE
Within 3 years of its construction, the structure’s wood roof failed to insulate the cold vessel beneath due to poor design. The customer required a roofing system that offered both insulation and energy savings.
THE PROCESS
Barrier’s trained technicians determined that a 5” polyurethane foam system would meet the customer’s needs for insulation and energy-efficiency. It was applied along with a Poly-urea vapor barrier and silicone top coat to the existing wood substrate.
THE RESULT
The restored roof now delivers superior insulation to the cold storage beneath while consistently saving the customer approximately 30% in energy costs compared to the old roof.
“Growers and packers look for every advantage to stay competitive, and Barrier gave us a big one. We’re working colder and running greener. And spending less to do it.”
